Green Apple House chose Sauter Timber to prefabricate the Douglas fir timber, glulam, and CLT for this project during the summer of 2019. Royal Bliss Brewery is the first mass timber brewery in North America. The main structure is made of spruce glulam with most connections being hidden steel plates that are fastened with pins. The structure that houses the staircase to the second floor was made of Douglas fir timbers to give the overall structure a nice accent piece. The large braces on the front of the brewery were also made of Douglas fir for this same reason. For the roof of the brewery, CLT was used to speed up the construction process and increase the design possibilities. The brewery and restaurant are open as of February 2020.
